1. You can lose more than you deposit
Leveraged trading — forex, futures, perpetual swaps, options written uncovered — can produce losses that exceed the funds you originally committed. Brokers may margin-call you and close positions at a loss.
2. Past performance is not future performance
Every instructor, every testimonial, every backtest shown on this site represents historical performance. The same setup may produce different results in different market conditions. Trade size, slippage, fees, and execution venue all materially affect outcomes.
3. Education is not advice
Nothing in any 01LOT Academy course, lesson, forum post, live class, chat message, or instructor communication is personal financial advice. We do not know your situation, your tax position, your risk tolerance, or your goals. For personalised advice, consult a regulated financial adviser in your jurisdiction.
4. Many retail traders lose money
Retail loss rates for leveraged products are publicly disclosed by most regulated CFD and FX brokers under EU / UK rules and typically range from 60% to 80%. Other products vary. Profitable trading is hard, requires consistent process, and is not for everyone.
5. Crypto-specific risks
Cryptoassets are highly volatile, often not protected by traditional investor compensation schemes, and may be subject to total loss in the event of exchange insolvency, smart-contract failure, on-chain exploit, or regulatory action. Self-custody carries its own risks (seed loss, malware, phishing).
6. Prop firms are not jobs
Passing a prop-firm challenge does not guarantee income. Most funded traders fail their funded account within 90 days. The market doesn't care about your evaluation.
7. Region-specific notes
Some financial products described in our courses may be restricted or prohibited in your country (e.g., crypto perps for UK retail; binary options in most jurisdictions). We do not provide jurisdictional legal advice — check with a local lawyer before executing.
8. Mental health and help
Trading is a documented contributor to compulsive behaviour, sleep disruption, and financial anxiety. If you find yourself trading to recover losses, hiding losses from family, or losing sleep, stop and seek support. Some help lines:
